Florida--the last 4 days!

Sorry for the delay on the rest of our trip. I meant to finish the last 4 days of our Florida trip, but work, and the 4th of July and Lily's birthday kept me busy this week and I didn't have a chance to finish. I'm sure you were waiting on pins and needles...#sarcasm

The last 4 days of our trip were the best! The weather after #tropicalstormcindy gave us a few warm, sunny days. Unfortunately, the water was still pretty rough, so we couldn't do much actual swimming, but we still hung out under the tent all day and did a little wading. I'm not the biggest fan of swimming in the ocean anyway. The saltwater hurts my eyes and tastes gross, and I always feel out of control with the waves. I prefer lakes and pools. But I do love walking along the shore and watching the waves from the beach while sipping a cocktail, of course!

Side note: Mark looks like he's not having fun in just about every photo. Turns out, he actually had pneumonia the whole time. He was a trooper and tried to hang all week, but had NO energy. We went strolling along the beach one morning and he was exhausted. We knew something was up, but didn't know what it was until we got back home and he went back to the doctor and he had a lot of fluid in his lungs. Poor guy. He's feeling better though, but it's taken a long time to recover!

We took a drive down the road a bit to Destin one night for dinner and live music at a fun little dive bar. It had a really cool beachy vibe, had super fresh, yummy seafood, served cold beer, and the guy played country music, so I was good.

These two boys kept us entertained.

Our last couple days were filled with more of the same--beach time, family time, board games, and relaxing!

Our last night in town Mark and I went and listened to some live music at Tootsies. I actually thought the only Tootsies was in Nashville, as it's always a place to we go anytime we're there. BUT, apparently there are Tootsies lounges all over the world! Maybe we need to open one in Texas! The band that night was AWESOME! The lead singer was a cool chick and most of the songs they played were girl country songs from the mid-late 90s through today--I'm talking Jo Dee Messina, Shania, Dixie Chicks--totally brought me back to high school and college. I was singing along to every word. SO much fun! She was super entertaining and even came out into the crowd and danced on a table at one point. Shout out to the sick guy for taking me out on a date even though he wasn't feeling the best.

Another side note: I could never live in Florida. I attempted to do my hair every day, and the humidity just ruined it the second I walked outside. As I looked around that night, I realized that everyone's hair looked bad--it wasn't just mine! Haha. Everyone either had total #beachhairdontcare or it was pulled up. Yeah, I'm way too high maintenance for that year round!

I did try a new beer that I loved! 30A Beach Blonde Ale. Kinda reminds me of the Dallas Blonde that I order just about every time I go out. Bonus, it had a really fun label.

We got a little bit of a sunset the very last evening. This was kind of a bummer because it was either raining or too cloudy to see it each night. I "forced" the boys outside to take some sunset pictures but they turned out cute.

I so wish the girls could've joined us this week. Granted, I'm sure it wouldn't have been as relaxing of a week, but we all really missed them. I know they were having fun, though, and they got some beach time in themselves on the other side of the peninsula.
